Jasmine Ako is Chief of Staff at Great Public Schools Now (GPSN), where she helps lead efforts to improve educational outcomes for students across Los Angeles. She works alongside educators, district leaders, and community partners to advance innovative strategies that strengthen teaching and learning, with a particular focus on expanding opportunity for historically underserved students. Through her leadership, Jasmine supports cross-sector collaboration and system-level initiatives that help schools innovate, improve instruction, and create better outcomes for students and families.
Innovation for Learning Fund Project: Dual-Immersion Professional Development Pilot
GPSN's Innovation for Learning Fund project expands a professional development model designed to strengthen instruction in dual language immersion classrooms. In partnership with LAUSD and Yu Ming Charter School, the initiative equips educators with data-driven tools, coaching, and collaborative learning opportunities to improve instruction in both English and partner languages. By strengthening teacher practice and building school-level capacity, the project aims to increase biliteracy, improve academic outcomes for multilingual learners, and create a scalable model that can be replicated in school districts across California and the nation.
