Jacquelyn Ollison, Ed.D., is Director of the Center for Research on Expanding Educational Opportunity (CREEO) at the UC Berkeley School of Education and an instructor in the Teacher Preparation Program at UC Merced Extension. An equity-focused education and organizational learning expert, TEDx speaker, and author, Jacquelyn's work centers on creating culturally sustaining learning environments and supporting educator well-being. She brings together research, lived experience, and community-centered solutions to expand educational opportunity for historically marginalized students.
Innovation for Learning Fund Project: Strengthening and Scaling the California Black Studies Curriculum
Through the Innovation for Learning Fund, CREEO is expanding the California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC), a first-of-its-kind statewide initiative that combines culturally sustaining curriculum with ongoing professional learning for educators. Rather than relying on traditional curriculum development, CABSC positions teachers as co-designers who refine lessons through classroom implementation, collaboration, and reflection. By strengthening teacher leadership and building sustainable school-site capacity, the initiative aims to make high-quality Black Studies curriculum and instructional resources accessible to schools and communities across California.
