Culturally Responsive Social Studies Accelerator Launch: Building a Path Forward

It is well documented that students of color excel when instruction includes anti-racist and culturally relevant education. But even more so, all students benefit from instruction that includes fact-based, diverse perspectives and representation of people of color's history and culture.

The purpose of this Accelerator is to:
-- Identify, build a coalition, and learn from approximately 300 BIPOC leaders who are successfully developing and implementing PreK-12 United States history, social studies, and geography curriculum that is racially inclusive, anti-racist, culturally relevant, and equitable for all students but especially students of color to access;

-- Provide communication, implementation, and change management strategies for school leaders (i.e., principals, instructional staff, superintendents, and board leadership) who would like to implement racially inclusive curriculum and distribute through various partnerships and engagement opportunities to educators across the country; and

-- Determine what longer-term initiatives are needed in the field based on input from the advisory committee and coalition, and learnings through strategic action planning.

Join Andrea Foggy-Paxton for a discussion on you can get involved to build, support, and amplify a coalition of Black and brown leaders working to accelerate adoption of culturally responsive social studies in education systems across the country.
