EdLoC Signs on to Joint Letter to President Biden on the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health

On June 21, 2022, Education Leaders of Color (EdLoC) joined a diverse group of education, nutrition, and disabilities’ rights organizations and sent a letter to President Joe Biden calling for an additional topic - the role schools play in addressing student hunger - to be addressed at the upcoming White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health.

The Conference, scheduled to take place in September 2022, is a transformational opportunity to address food insecurity across our country. The letter calls for the prioritization of students, particularly those most at-risk of hunger and food insecurity, including students of color, students from low-income backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Hunger and food insecurity affect millions of students every day, impacting not only their mental and physical health, but also their academic success. You can find the full letter to President Biden here.

We hope the White House will also recognize the need to push beyond silos to more effectively address these critical issues as it considers our request to prioritize student hunger as a key area of emphasis in the 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health.
